5th Grade

I was born and raised in Fort Worth. I attended Tanglewood Elementary, McLean Middle School, and Paschal High School. I graduated from the University of North Texas. This is my 18th year at South Hi Mount. I have taught kindergarten through 5th grade during my years at SHM. My husband and I have been married 27 years and have 3 children: John (24), Emma (19), and Owen (13). We also have 3 dogs: Winston (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 8), Barnaby (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 7) and Gabe (Goldendoodle, 2). I am also a foster for Cavalier Rescue USA.

 

 

 

 

 

I'm Lara Kimsey. This is my 25^th year teaching and 21st year at South Hi Mount. I am originally from Hico,Texas. I graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. My husband and I have two boys in high school, 2 dogs, and a cat. When I am not at school, I love watching my boys play football and baseball. I am so happy to be part of the 5^th grade team!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hello! My name is Laura Bender and my family and I recently moved to Fort Worth from Salado. I graduated from TCU with a degree in elementary education. I've taught both general and special education including 1^st grade, 4^th grade, math resource and intervention for grades K-5. I'm passionate about teaching math and science and creating a fun and welcoming classroom. When I'm not at school I love to spend time with my 3 grown daughters and cheer on TCU football.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hello! My name is Gloria Flores. I was born in Oceanside, California and moved to Texas in 2004. I graduated from Tarleton State University with a bachelor's degree in education in 2018, and I’ve been passionate about teaching ever since.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy running, dancing, reading, and writing short stories. I’m also a proud dog mom to two energetic German Shepherd-Husky mixes. I’m happily married and love spending time with my family.

I’m so excited to be part of the amazing 5th grade team and look forward to a wonderful year of growth, learning, and fun!

 

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Gloria Flores. Nací en Oceanside, California y me mudé a Texas en el año 2004. Me gradué de la Universidad Estatal de Tarleton con una licenciatura en Educación en el 2018, y desde entonces he tenido una gran pasión por la enseñanza.

Fuera del aula, disfruto correr, bailar, leer y escribir cuentos cortos. También soy mamá orgullosa de dos perros muy enérgicos, mezcla de pastor alemán con husky. Estoy felizmente casada y me encanta pasar tiempo con mi familia.

Estoy muy emocionada de ser parte del increíble equipo de 5.º grado y espero tener un año maravilloso lleno de aprendizaje, crecimiento y diversión.
